Wilmington water supply stable as widespread drought impacts southeastern North Carolina

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Wilmington District says drought conditions across southeastern North Carolina are widespread, but water supplies for Wilmington residents remain stable for now.

The drought’s geographic reach is comparable to what the district has seen before, but operational impacts are still lower than peak levels from nearly two decades ago, according to the USACE water management team.
