Flash flooding and storms slam metro Baton Rouge

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – A strong line of storms led to flash flooding across several portions of metro Baton Rouge Friday afternoon.

High water on multiple roadways led to treacherous driving conditions.

At least one vehicle was stranded in high water on Burbank Drive near Nicholson, with the occupants needing to be rescued.

According to officials, as of around 1:30 p.m., the following roads are currently closed in East Baton Rouge Parish:

  • Scenic Hwy @ 70th St.
  • Kenilworth Pkwy. from Menlo Dr. to Highland Rd.
  • Steele Blvd. @ Hundred Oaks
  • Burbank Dr. @ Nicholson Dr.
  • S. Acadian Thwy. from I-10 to Perkins Rd..
  • Corporate Blvd. @ Entergy Blvd.
  • Congress Blvd. @ Jamestown Ave.
  • Liberty Rd. @ Port Hudson Pride Rd.
  • Picardy Ave. between Mancuso and Essen

In Livingston Parish, officials said Eden Church by North Park is impassable.
