Vacant downtown Omaha lot to become affordable housing for seniors

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – A vacant downtown lot is about to get new life, providing affordable housing and helping seniors.

Together Omaha took over an old hotel at 22nd and Douglas Street in downtown Omaha in 2021. The non-profit converted it into temporary housing for homeless seniors.

It worked for a while, but in the summer of 2024, Together Omaha shut down the operation, citing financial issues. Today, the hotel is gone and the site sits empty, but not for long…
