GREENSBORO (Greenville Drive) — Ivan Brethowr finished a single shy of the cycle and drove in three runs, while Greensboro’s pitching staff held Greenville to four hits Friday night as the Grasshoppers beat the Drive 7-1 in game four of the six-game series at First National Bank Field.
Greenville (14-17) was held scoreless until the ninth inning, when Mason White sent a solo homer to right field with two outs. The blast was White’s seventh of the season and accounted for the Drive’s lone run in the loss. Greensboro (19-12) took a 3-1 lead in the series with the win.
The Drive had early chances against Greensboro starter Carlos Castillo and reliever Treyson Peters, but the Grasshoppers worked out of trouble each time.
