FAIRHOPE, Ala. (WKRG) — Just in time for Mother’s Day, the Coast Guard found a special way to make sure one proud mom didn’t miss her daughter’s promotion.

A promotion ceremony for Jacqueline Gutiérrez was originally scheduled weeks ago in Mobile, but her mother was admitted to Thomas Hospital in Fairhope just days before the ceremony.
“Because of the current situation, you know, they decided to do it here,” Jacqueline Gutiérrez’s father, Al Cruz, said. “They made the effort to come here. We didn’t want to interrupt whatever schedules they wanted, but they were very family-oriented, and they cared for the family. “
