COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) -A new public school is set to be built on the United States Air Force Academy after Academy School District 20 was awarded more tens of million of dollars in federal funding for the project.
District 20 announced it received a $42.7 million grant to rebuild Douglass Valley Elementary School into a new pre-K through 8th-grade school on the Academy.
The funding comes from the Department of Defense’s Office of Local Defense Community Cooperation through the Public Schools on Military Installations program. The grant will support construction of the new school as part of a larger $54.2 million project aimed at replacing aging facilities and expanding the campus from its current kindergarten through fifth grade model into a pre-K through eighth grade school…
