The National Weather Service’s Storm Prediction Center has issued a severe thunderstorm watch until 11:00 PM Saturday for an area that includes most of Western New York, including Chautauqua, Cattaraugus and Erie counties. A line of storms will cross the Great Lakes and move into the region and potentially produce damaging winds and some hail through the evening. Forecasters say the primary threats include scattered damaging wind gusts up to 70 MPH possible, isolated large hail events up to one inch in diameter, and a tornado or two possible.
