A familiar South Side trouble spot was back in the headlines Friday afternoon after a shooting in Greater Grand Crossing left at least one person in critical condition, according to Chicago police.
The gunfire broke out just before 1 p.m. in the 300 block of West 75th Street near South Harvard Avenue. Investigators had not yet said how many people were hit or whether anyone was in custody.
Officials told WGN‑TV that first responders found at least one victim who was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition. Detectives remained on scene, processing evidence and canvassing the area as the afternoon wore on. The station reported that both the total number of people shot and the custody status were still unknown while the work continued.
