BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Hundreds of Western New Yorkers came together Saturday at Fare Share Western New York for a day centered around food access, gardening and community connection.
Attendees could purchase organic vegetables, herbs and flowers at the event, all in an effort to ensure access to healthy foods for residents on the East Side.
“Food justice is at the heart of this farm, and it’s not just for one group of people, it’s not for a certain class, race, whatever, it’s for everybody,” said Madison Rios, farm manager at Groundwork Market Garden. “Everyone deserves a right to good food, and that’s like truly our culture here. We love to keep all of our food affordable.”
