Prodisee Pantry taking step forward in north Baldwin County

STOCKTON, Ala. (WKRG) — A local food pantry is expanding to include a new, permanent home in the northern part of Baldwin County.  Volunteers with the Prodisee Pantry put up a big sign in the rain along Highway 225 in Stockton at Lakeview Road. Next year they hope to have a building at that location.

“This will be a new facility. It’ll be about 8000 square feet complete with loading docks, community room offices, freezers, coolers and parking for 150. Doing a remote food distribution is challenging enough. But add to that Saturday’s rain, and you have more difficulties. But officials here say that with a permanent building, these challenges wouldn’t be nearly as bad.

“We wouldn’t have this problem. We’d be able to assemble all the food inside the warehouse, take that, and then just have the people drive by. We would take it to their car load into the back of their vehicle, just like we do with distributions in Spanish Fort,” said volunteer Bryant Thompson…
