On May 10, 1749, Arkansas Post suffered a major Chickasaw attack during the French-Chickasaw conflict. Encyclopedia of Arkansas entries say the raiders struck settlers outside the post, killed several French men, and captured women and children; the attack helped trigger the post’s move closer to the Quapaw.

In the Civil War, on May 10, 1862, the Engagement at Plum Point Bend was fought near Osceola on the Arkansas side of the Mississippi River.
