The Rock Jokes About Draymond Greens Name and NBA Future

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson stepped into the comedy spotlight Sunday night during Netflix’s “The Roast of Kevin Hart,” delivering some playful jabs that had the audience buzzing.

Making a grand entrance before hitting the stage, the WWE icon wasted no time targeting Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green-starting with a humorous critique of his name.

“Draymond, that’s your name, right? That’s my boy,” The Rock said.

“I was thinking about this. Of all the cool Black names you could have, that’s the laziest one I ever heard.

You just put a ‘D’ in front of Raymond. This guy’s name is lazy.

And on top of that, your team got bounced from the playoffs. So, because you’re my boy and I love you, maybe it’s time to retire.”

His light-hearted roast earned some laughs, particularly since Green isn’t often the target of such jabs. Sharing the stage with comedians like Pete Davidson and Jeff Ross, the former NBA champion took the humor in stride.

Despite the roast, Green has been clear about his intentions to continue playing in the NBA, hoping to remain with the Warriors. “I hope I’ve done enough to still be here,” he said last month.

“If I haven’t, then I don’t want to be here. It’s not just about playing-it’s leadership, mentoring young players, helping the organization move forward.”

Green was drafted by Golden State in the second round of the 2012 NBA Draft from Michigan State. He is a four-time NBA champion and four-time All-Star. During the 2025-26 season, he averaged 8.4 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 5.5 assists over 68 games.

As always, The Rock brought his signature charisma to the roast, blending humor with a nod to one of basketball’s most polarizing figures.
