A quiet stretch of Ginn Road turned into a crime scene before sunrise Saturday, after Clermont County deputies say a woman was accidentally shot and the man walking beside her ended up under arrest.
The 36-year-old suspect, identified by the Clermont County Sheriff’s Office as Russell Gibbs, was found walking with a 26-year-old woman early Saturday following a reported shooting in Washington Township. Deputies say the woman had a single gunshot wound to her shoulder and was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Officials say she is expected to recover. Gibbs was detained at the scene, and deputies opened a criminal investigation.
According to WKRC, the Clermont County Communications Center received a call about a shooting in the 2100 block of Ginn Road shortly before 2:30 a.m., and deputies arrived at the scene around that time. Washington Township EMS took the victim to Clermont Mercy Hospital, and WKRC reports she is expected to recover.
