COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — Detectives in Columbus are asking for the public’s help identifying a man whose burned remains were found in a homeless encampment in 2021, in a case now being investigated as a homicide.
On Dec. 8, 2021, officers responded to reports of a body under a highway overpass in the 500 block of Edgar Waldo Way. The individual was found in a homeless camp and was unrecognizable because of the extensive burns he received, investigators said. His death is being investigated as a homicide.
Through forensic analysis, detectives determined the individual was a man between the ages of 24 and 46. Investigators said he is of Central American ancestry, with his parents likely being from El Salvador or Guatemala. He was estimated to have been 5-foot-2 with black or brown hair…
