Man pleads guilty to murder of 16-year-old in 2025 shooting

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – A man charged in a 2025 shooting that killed a 16-year-old pleaded guilty on Monday.

Jamoni Burton, 20, took a plea deal that will convict him of murder and require him to be sentenced to 45 years in jail. As part of the deal, the court will dismiss the felony firearm enhancement leveraged against Burton in his initial charges.

The plea deal also requires Burton to pay $3,420 in restitution to the Violent Crime Compensation Fund.

Fort Wayne Police officers responded to the shooting in the 1800 block of River Run Trail, at an apartment complex on the city’s northeast side. They found 16-year-old Kardenai Anthony Hollis suffering from gunshot wounds, and he was later pronounced dead at the hospital…
