LITCHFIELD BEACH, SC (WMBF) – Litchfield Beach residents are opposing proposed road changes to a busy South Strand area.
The South Carolina Department of Transportation has proposed traffic changes surrounding Crooked Oak Drive and Litchfield Drive along Highway 17 to improve safety and service, an area that the department said has a history of crashes and traffic.
Proposed changes include the installation of median and right-turning lanes coming off of the following roads:
- Litchfield Drive
- Crooked Oak Drive
- Country Club Drive
- Channel Bluff Avenue
Those turning out of those roads onto Highway 17 will be required to turn right. Depending on the direction one is trying to go, a driver may have to take a U-turn to go where they want to go…
