BOISE, Idaho — A Treasure Valley man is recovering from a surfing accident at Boise’s Whitewater Park that required emergency surgery and a long rehabilitation when a rare medical condition developed from what initially appeared to be a minor injury.
Travis Stidham, from Star, said he was surfing the park’s more advanced “Phase Two” wave a couple of weeks ago when he fell from his board and was pulled into fast-moving water. During the fall, he hit his thigh on a rock.
Despite the impact, Stidham said he initially believed he was fine and continued surfing for the rest of the day, before hanging out with friends and even riding his bike home…
