NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – Storms are not done with southeast Louisiana just yet. A convective complex pushed over the southeast Louisiana coast Monday afternoon, already dropping an inch or two of rain across the immediate coastline and triggering localized minor flooding in Grand Isle.
The bigger concern shifts to the I-10 and I-12 corridor as the evening hours approach. A second round of storms is expected to fire up along that stretch, bringing the best chance for an isolated severe storm or two alongside serious flash flooding concerns. The Weather Prediction Center is growing more confident in a slight risk for flash flooding along the I-10 corridor, and with Baton Rouge already soaked from a week of heavy rainfall, any additional rain there could push local rivers even higher.
