Suspect arrested in downtown Eugene stabbing weeks later

EUGENE, Ore. – The suspect in a stabbing that shut down downtown Eugene for three hours has been arrested.

Donald Riley Nelson, 26, was booked into the Lane County Jail on charges of assault and unlawful use of a weapon. Nelson will be arraigned this afternoon.

The stabbing happened at 9:43 p.m. on April 23 at 12th and Washington. The victim was taken to the hospital while Eugene police, the sheriff’s office and Oregon State Police used K-9s to search the area, but no suspect was found at the time…
