‘Something out of a Dr. Seuss book.’ DTE criticized for tree ‘massacre’ in Ann Arbor

ANN ARBOR, MI — Residents are once again complaining about aggressive tree trimming around power lines in Ann Arbor, some arguing it’s defacing the local landscape.

DTE Energy-hired crews with buzzing chainsaws have been at work along neighborhood streets and on private properties in recent days, in some cases topping trees or turning them into V-shaped oddities with middles cut out.

In several cases, entire trees have been cut down under power lines along streets and behind homes.

“The result has been an affront to many in Tree Town, as Ann Arbor is affectionately known, leaving many trees looking more like something out of a Dr. Seuss book,” the Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday, May 12…
