Testimony: Gunfire sparking Mobile house explosion was second attempt against same man

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – A shooting that sparked an explosion and fire in the Maysville community in March was part of an ongoing effort that targeted a rival gang member, according to testimony Tuesday.

That fire destroyed a house on Plover Street. Annette Davis told FOX10 News at the time that the assailants laughed as they sped away. The family managed to escape before the house went up in flames, but Davis’ husband went to the hospital for smoke inhalation.

According to testimony at a preliminary hearing, the target was Davis’ grandson, Christopher Kennedy. Mobile police Detective William Elliott testified that Desmond David Berry participated in an earlier shooting on March 10 at an apartment complex off Old Pascagoula Road in Tillman’s Corner.
