2 rescued near Savannah River after attempting to illegally cross US border

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — The U.S. Coast Guard Southeast (USCG) rescued two people who were allegedly attempting to cross the U.S. border, officials said Tuesday.

According to officials, a boat crew from Station Tybee found two people in the water near the Savannah River and brought them to safety Saturday morning.

The individuals were reportedly attempting to cross the border to the United States illegally. Authorities said they were later transferred to the U.S. Customs and Border Patrol for further investigation…
