The shuttered Walmart at 5825 West Hope Avenue—a sprawling commercial anchor just north of West Capitol Drive on the east side of North 60th Street—could soon house an indoor self-storage facility and a data processing, computer services, and computer research operation, if the Milwaukee City Plan Commission approves the request.
The Plan Commission is to consider the proposal at its May 18 meeting with a public hearing that residents can attend in person or testify virtually through the City Plan Commission website.
Why a deviation is required
The building sits within the Midtown Center Development Incentive Zone (DIZ) Overlay, which sets standards for what kinds of businesses can operate in this stretch of the corridor.
