City councilors ‘reluctant’ on Mass. mayor’s plan to buy closed college campus

Quincy city councilors raised questions Monday at an oversight committee meeting about whether the city’s bid to buy a closed college campus would burden taxpayers.

Councilor David Jacobs said he believes the city lacks the resources to manage new property acquisitions without sidelining other projects.

“We don’t have the staff to necessarily kind of handle all these projects at once. So how do you think this is going to work out when we try to go and purchase the Eastern Nazarene College and we’re all of a sudden acquiring 20 some odd acres of land with 14 buildings and all that?” he said…
