Two individuals are in custody after an armed carjacking late Monday night led to a police pursuit and a vehicle collision. The incident began at about 10:48 p.m., when Philadelphia police officers responded to a report of a carjacking on the 2100 block of Longshore Ave. Investigators determined that two masked suspects approached a 32-year-old woman and a 37-year-old woman, brandishing a handgun and a knife. The offenders threatened the victims with the weapons before seizing their keys and fleeing the scene in the victims’ 2012 Jeep Cherokee.
The stolen vehicle was spotted by patrol officers shortly after the initial report, sparking a brief pursuit. The suspects’ flight ended when they crashed the Jeep into a pickup truck at the intersection of Torresdale and Adams avenues.
