Pastel hues have woven in and out of popularity in interior design since the Edwardian era (although Bridgerton might trick you into thinking they were trending in the Regency era, too).
So while they’re inherently timeless, they aren’t immune to the trend cycle. And right now, we’ve noticed that one pastel color is especially having a moment. Lilac has been dominating in recent home shows we’ve attended and in new fabric and wallpaper lines. So we’re officially calling it and predicting it as a major 2026 interior design trend.
We talked to three designers who have been noticing the lilac phenomenon too. Here, they weigh in on whether lilac will be a fleeting trend or have some staying power this go around, and how to incorporate it into your home.
