ST. MARTIN PARISH, La. (KLFY)- The St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office is now utilizing new Grappler technology to safely end high-speed pursuits, becoming the first agency in Louisiana to implement the device.
The innovative police bumper is designed to help bring dangerous vehicle chases under control more effectively. Sheriff Becket Breaux said the goal of the new technology is to reduce the length of pursuits and improve safety for deputies, suspects, and the public.
“There’s a bunch of times or instances where we get in pursuit and the pursuits last a long time and of course, we want to catch a criminal. I wanted to look at a way to catch them, stop them, and be able to put them on the side of the road where it’s safe and secure,” Breaux said…
