Authorities responded to a home between Fourth and Fifth Streets around 10 a.m. for the report of a man who had been shot. As police began investigating the scene, they learned the victim, who had multiple gunshot wounds, had been driven to a local hospital before they arrived.
Neighbor Gloria didn’t want to go on camera, but said when she first heard noise yesterday, she didn’t realize it was gunshots from an AK-47. But when she opened her front door, she saw the victim with blood streaming down his face, his driver’s side window completely shattered and multiple bullet holes in the car door. She witnessed a car speed away toward Fifth Street.
“Three times that he was shot, once in the face and two in the shoulder,” said Watervliet Police Chief William Rice, who added that the victim is currently at Albany Medical Center and expected to recover.
