‘When to stop asking for more.’ Ann Arbor mayor pledges to oppose new city taxes

ANN ARBOR, MI — Mayor Christopher Taylor is pledging to oppose any new city property taxes as Ann Arbor wrestles with the fact that it has become unaffordable for many people.

Taylor, who is up for reelection, announced Wednesday, May 13, he is expanding his commitment to affordability with the new pledge, saying the path to a more affordable Ann Arbor runs through lower household costs.

“We are working hard to make Ann Arbor more affordable, but we can’t meet this goal if we continue to increase property taxes,” he said in a statement. “I respect what working families and our seniors already pay, and I will ensure Ann Arbor continues to deliver for residents without any new city millages.”…
