Washtenaw Community College to hold festival for veterans, military families

ANN ARBOR, MI — Washtenaw Community College in Ann Arbor will host its fifth annual Vet Fest on Saturday, Aug. 1, bringing together military veterans, active-duty service members and their families for a day of free food, entertainment and access to community resources, according to a May 6 announcement.

The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. near the campus main entrance off East Huron River Drive. The college’s Wadhams Veterans Center is organizing the festival in collaboration with multiple veterans organizations across Washtenaw County.

“The purpose of Vet Fest is to provide a day of fun and relaxation for local veterans and their families, all while giving them access to the major resource and benefit providers in the area,” said Carol Osborne, WCC Wadhams Veterans Center coordinator, in the announcement. “It’s sort of a one-stop-shop for veterans and gives service providers an opportunity to connect with the community they serve.”…
