Former Braselton Police Chief Michael Steffman, who had been facing criminal charges tied to allegations that he misused law enforcement license plate data, was found dead at his home in late April, according to an 11Alive report by Marissa Sarbak and follow-up commentary from surveillance-focused YouTuber James Hayes.
Sarbak reported from outside the home in Braselton, Georgia, where the Georgia Bureau of Investigation was handling the death investigation after a body was found at the residence of the former police chief. At the time of her report, officials had not yet released all details about the identification or cause of death, though sources later told 11Alive that the body found inside the home was Steffman.
Hayes, who hosts the FIGHTFLOCK channel and had previously covered Steffman’s case, described the death as a shocking update to a story he had followed earlier this year involving allegations that the former chief used the Flock camera database to track people connected to a personal relationship dispute.
