KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — The Knox County property assessor’s office is sending reappraisals to residents, and since the average market value of a home has risen about 60 percent since 2022, you may be in for a shock.
Some Knox County residents are still waiting for the other foot to drop, because the Knox County Property Assessor’s Office staggered the mailing of reappraisal letters to residents so that county employees wouldn’t have to answer everyone’s questions at once.
Rick Evans has lived in Knoxville’s Fourth and Gill neighborhood for 45 years, but he said he has yet to see his reappraisal. Now that he’s retired, his daughter helps him with his taxes, and he understands why they are going up.
