CAUTION: Super full moon brings King Tides threat to Carolina Beach

CAROLINA BEACH, N.C. (WECT) – The town of Carolina Beach is warning residents about the risk of potential King Tides.

According to the town, elevated flood risks are expected to start on Thursday, May 14, lasting through Thursday, May 21, due to a super full moon during this time. Areas that most commonly flood include Canal Drive, Florida Avenue, Carolina Beach Avenue North, and other low-lying areas.

“Town officials may close roads due to flooding,” town officials said in a Facebook post. “Please use caution and obey traffic signs and barriers. Avoid walking or driving in flooded areas; salt water can be detrimental to your vehicle and could contain debris.”…
