BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – The East Baton Rouge Metro Council voted Wednesday night to approve a pay plan amendment that will give raises to city-parish employees across several departments.
Council members approved the measure in a 10-1 vote. Councilman Dwight Hudson cast the lone opposing vote, while Councilman Aaron Moak was absent.
According to discussions during the meeting, the raises will be funded by freezing 100 vacant positions currently funded through the city-parish general fund. Leaders said that move is expected to free up about $4.6 million to help cover the raises…
