Man charged in deadly downtown Minneapolis stabbing

MINNEAPOLIS — A Minneapolis man is accused of stabbing a man to death early Thursday morning at Triangle Park in downtown Minneapolis.

Rex Basswood, Jr., 36, is charged with second-degree murder after a man was found dead in the park Thursday morning from multiple stab wounds. The Minneapolis Fire Department was the first to arrive, and said the man had two stab wounds.

According to court documents, surveillance video showed a man entering the park and speaking to another person shortly after 3 a.m. Thursday. After finishing the conversation, the criminal complaint says the suspect walks just off the camera. The victim then turns his head as the suspect walks toward him. The video then shows the suspect come back into view and make two stabbing motions.
