Child Advocates of Montgomery County celebrates Third Annual Champions for Children Awards

Child Advocates of Montgomery County hosted its third annual Champions for Children Awards Breakfast on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at Truluck’s The Ocean’s Finest Seafood and Crab in The Woodlands. Approximately 100 guests gathered to celebrate three outstanding community partners whose dedication has made a lasting impact on children and families in Montgomery County.

The breakfast held special distinction as the inaugural event hosted in Truluck’s newly renovated dining room, offering guests an elegant setting for the morning’s celebration.

Truluck’s donated all proceeds from the breakfast to support Child Advocates of Montgomery County’s mission, a gesture of generosity that deepened an already meaningful partnership. Child Advocates extends special recognition to Amber Scheer and her team at Truluck’s for their hospitality and commitment to the community.

This year’s awards recognized three organizations whose long-time partnership and sustained support continue to strengthen Child Advocates’ work on behalf of children across Montgomery County:

  • Faith Bible Church: Faith Bible Church has been an invaluable partner to Child Advocates for many years, opening doors for awareness and volunteer recruitment through speaking opportunities at men’s breakfasts, Sunday services, and their Local Missions Information Day. The congregation has demonstrated extraordinary generosity through financial support, hands-on service during City Serve Day, and ongoing volunteer projects, including producing TBRI® training materials that directly strengthen programming for children and families.

Among the most memorable expressions of care: the church’s kids’ sewing camp created beautiful handmade pillowcases for children served by Child Advocates—small, meaningful gifts of comfort during difficult times. Several dedicated Volunteer Advocates are also members of Faith Bible Church, living out their calling every day.

  • Junior League of The Woodlands, Inc.: For decades, Junior League of The Woodlands has stood beside Child Advocates through hands-on service, leadership, and transformative generosity. Their volunteer teams have supported marquee fundraising events year after year, including the HOPE for Children Gala, Cornament, and bingo nights, helping ensure each event’s success and expanding Child Advocates’ reach across the community.

Through significant grant funding, Junior League has enabled Child Advocates to deliver anti-trafficking education to youth, equipping young people with tools to stay safe. Their support also provided nearly all of the resources needed for Child Advocates’ TBRI® Connection Corner—books, toys, games, and materials that create a warm, trauma-informed space where children and families feel welcome and supported.

  • Leadership Montgomery County – Texas: Leadership Montgomery County (LMC) has been a valued partner exemplifying deep commitment to developing tomorrow’s leaders while building meaningful connections across the community. Their program devotes an entire day to nonprofit organizations, ensuring emerging leaders gain firsthand understanding of the vital role these organizations play in supporting children and families.

LMC’s impact on Child Advocates spans multiple dimensions. Three members of Child Advocates’ leadership team, including President & CEO Ann Marie Ronsman, are LMC alumni, and many LMC graduates have become essential members of the Child Advocates Board of Directors. The organization has also been the beneficiary of two transformative LMC class projects. The LMC Class of 2021 completed an ambitious four-part project that included renovating CPS visitation rooms, converting a teen life-skills event to a multi-site virtual experience, building an online resource directory for Advocates, and developing a comprehensive disaster recovery plan…
