Thousands without power after strong winds blow through Beehive State

SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — Strong winds moving across Utah knocked out power to thousands of customers, grounded traffic on some roads and created dangerous conditions from the Wasatch Front to northern Utah.

Rocky Mountain Power reported nearly 6,200 customers without electricity Wednesday as gusty winds swept through the state. Outage maps showed problems scattered across much of Utah, with the largest concentrations along the Wasatch Front and northern Utah.

The National Weather Service warned that “widespread gusty winds between 40-50 mph are expected behind the front, though localized gusts to 60 mph are possible.”…
