New lawsuit claims Tri-State mall needs $5M in repairs, adding to redevelopment delays

CLERMONT COUNTY, Ohio (WKRC) – Another lawsuit threatens to further delay any hopes of redeveloping the Eastgate Mall property.

This is the latest chapter in the story of a 46-year-old mall on life support.

It was 1980 when Eastgate Mall opened, with nearly 100 stores and a bright future. Today, there are 34 stores and two lawsuits that are holding up any redevelopment.

When you walk inside Eastgate, it still sounds like a mall and looks like a mall. There are still shoppers there, but the gated storefronts indicate the troubles that simmer beneath the surface…
