SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) – A heated Housing Authority of Savannah meeting over the future redevelopment of Yamacraw Village ended early Wednesday after a debate over residents’ calls for legally binding relocation protections and a right to return to the community.
In a statement, the Housing Authority of Savannah said the meeting was adjourned after “escalating disruptions and concerns regarding the safety and well-being of staff, board members, and attendees,” and individuals were asked to continue demonstrations outside.
