Murder trial begins for suspects accused of killing Manchester High athlete on prom night

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) – A jury has been seated in the murder trial of three defendants accused of killing a 16-year-old Manchester High School athlete on his prom night in April 2024.

Semaj Copeland, Zion Horton and Jaquan Mahone are charged with murder in the death of Daryus Bryant, who was shot on Macon Road near Lakeshore Drive in Columbus on April 20, 2024.

After four days of jury selection, the 12-person jury heard opening statements and viewed evidence Wednesday afternoon at the government center.
