Summerfield town officials say vandals destroyed playground retaining wall

SUMMERFIELD, N.C. — The Town of Summerfield says vandals damaged part of the retaining wall at Athletic Park within the Community Park overnight, marking the second time in two weeks that town property has been intentionally damaged.

In a post shared on the town’s Facebook page, officials said parks and maintenance crews will now spend extra time repairing the damage while also preparing for the town’s upcoming Founders’ Day celebration and maintaining public spaces across the community.

Town leaders said the playground remains safe and open for families to use, but called the repeated vandalism “disappointing” and said it affects the entire community…
