Katt Williams’ guard indicted for roommate’s murder, claims self-defense

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Tranell Williams, a longtime bodyguard for comedian Katt Williams, has been indicted for first-degree murder in the shooting death of his roommate in August of 2025, said DeSoto County District Attorney Matthew Barton.

Police said Comedian Reggie Carroll was shot multiple times with a 12-gauge shotgun during a roommate dispute.

During a phone interview on Thursday, Tranell Williams told WREG that Caroll had pulled guns on him a number of times and threatened him that night with a weapon, and he shot him in self-defense.

“So I get paid from Katt with direct deposit. I’m a real employee, and then the guy who was pulling the guns on me was a comedian who was also on tour with Katt Williams, but he got kicked out of Katt Williams’ mansion, and that’s why Katt sent them to the house to stay with me,” said Tranell. The guy was repeatedly pulling guns on me. He was on drugs.”…
