Cranston man pleads guilty to bilking couple out of $140K

CRANSTON, R.I. (WPRI) — A Cranston man accused of posing as a financial advisor worth “a million dollars in clients” and defrauding a couple out of hundreds of thousands of dollars has been convicted, according to prosecutors.

Jason Johnson, 53, pleaded guilty Wednesday to one count of wire fraud and is scheduled to be sentenced on Aug. 27.

Prosecutors said Johnson falsely represented himself as a financial advisor and accepted roughly $140,000 from a Rhode Island couple through the now-defunct W.S. Solutions LLC…
