WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — West Palm Beach police are warning residents on Thursday about a fraud scheme in which scammers pose as bank representatives and collect debit cards in person after tricking victims over the phone.
The warning comes as the West Palm Beach Police Department investigates a case in which a victim lost $1,000 after being targeted in late March.
According to police, the victim received a call from an unknown man claiming to be with her bank’s fraud department. The caller said there was suspicious activity on her account and told her a representative would come to her home to collect and “recycle” her debit card…
