Scattered storms possible today as warm conditions continue across South Florida

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (WPEC) — South Florida will see another round of scattered showers and a few thunderstorms this afternoon into the early evening, mainly across Southeast Florida.

Storms will develop as sea breezes—winds moving inland from the coast—collide and create areas of rising air. While most activity will remain on the weaker side due to drier air higher in the atmosphere, a brief stronger storm or two cannot be ruled out, with gusty winds and lightning possible.

Temperatures will stay above normal, with highs reaching the upper 80s to lower 90s across much of the region.

At the beaches, an elevated risk of rip currents continues along the Palm Beach County coastline. Swimmers should be cautious, as these currents can quickly pull people away from shore…
