Man arrested in card skimming ‘conspiracy’ accused of stealing DPS account information

A San Antonio man has been implicated in an alleged credit card skimming “conspiracy” targeting local gas stations. Authorities say he was using the stolen funds to purchase fuel for his trucking business.

Osvaldo Alvarez Benitez, 38, was arrested April 22 on a two felony charges: fraudulent use or possession of between 10 and 50 items of identifying information and unlawful interception, use or disclosure of private wire, oral, or electronic communications.

Both charges are second-degree felonies, each carrying a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison and a $10,000 fine…
