DED and DHHS Announce Public Comment Period, Public Hearing on State’s Proposed Use of Federal Housing and Community Development Funds

Nebraska- The Nebraska Department of Economic Development (DED) and the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) are now accepting public comments on the “Proposed 2026 Annual Action Plan (AAP)”, which describes how the departments would use the annual federal funding for various programs, until Monday, June 15th, at noon.

The proposed action plan shows how DED and DHHS would use the funding towards assisting low- and moderate-income personnel while meeting national and state objectives through multiple programs, including the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), HOME Investment Partnerships (HOME), National Housing Trust Fund (HTF), Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG), Housing Opportunities for Persons with Aids (HOPWA) and the Homeless Shelter Assistance Trust Fund (HSATF).

In addition to the public comments, a public hearing will be held both in-person or virtually on Tuesday, May 19th, at noon. The hearing will be held at the Nebraska Department of Economic Development, located at 245 Fallbrook Blvd in Lincoln, Nebraska.
