GRAND RAPIDS, MI — More than 700 students, business leaders and military members were expected to gather Friday, May 15 in Grand Rapids for the Annual Armed Forces Thanksgiving Luncheon, an event that combines education and tribute during Armed Forces Month.
Retired Navy SEAL Marcus Luttrell was to deliver the keynote address at the J.W. Marriott. Luttrell, the sole survivor of Operation Red Wing and recipient of the Navy Cross and Purple Heart, is the subject of the film “Lone Survivor.”
The day was slated to begin with a student rally at the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum and Library.
