MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Phoebe Bridgers is bringing her surprise pop-up tour to downtown Mobile Thursday night, drawing crowds of devoted fans to the intimate venue The Merry Widow for a sold-out performance.
The indie folk star, known for headlining major festivals and arenas, has spent the past week playing small-capacity venues across the country as part of an unannounced series of shows. The Mobile stop follows appearances in Roswell, New Mexico, and Jackson, Mississippi, marking Bridgers’ first solo performances in nearly three years.
Fans began lining up outside The Merry Widow hours early Thursday morning before the venue officially announced the concert with flyers posted on its doors. Tickets sold out almost immediately, and the line was capped more than two hours before the box office opened at noon.
Many concertgoers said word of the show spread online through fan communities and social media speculation rather than formal promotion.
“There’s a big Phoebe Bridgers community on Reddit,” one fan said. “People were guessing by looking up smaller venues in cities that didn’t already have events scheduled.”…
