A trestle bridge in Randall County is gone after it went up in flames during a wildfire Thursday evening.

The bridge was in the path of the Hunggate Fire, which ignited and burned through 14,300 acres in southern Randall County on May 14 following a popcorn shower that started around 4:30 p.m. hitting the Canyon area with wind speeds of up to 60 miles per hour and lightning. It prompted different evacuation orders across the region during a 24-hour period.
“BNSF’s Plainview Subdivision is currently out of service due to the loss of the bridge,” noted Kendall Sloan, BNSF Media, in an emailed response to questions from the Herald. “A crew is on site working with first responders to clear the area and our teams are mobilizing to rebuild the bridge.”…
